Rochester will be getting another charter school. The SUNY Trustees' Charter Schools Committee has approved nine new charter schools in the state. Eight of them will be in New York City, and one will be in Rochester.
The one in Rochester will be known as the "PUC" Achieve Charter School. "PUC" stands for Partnerships to Uplift Communities. It will open in August of next year with 100 students in the 5th grade under the management of a non-profit corporation that currently manages 13 schools in California.
One grade per year will be added until the school reaches a maximum enrollment of 400 students in the 5th through the 8th grade.
