Rochester firefighters had a busy Thursday night when they responded to a fire at a high-rise on East Avenue, and another fire on Farbridge Street on the northeast side.
The fire at 1600 East Ave. was at a large, 12-story apartment building. When firefighters got there, they found flames coming from a 7th floor apartment.
The second alarm fire brought a number of city firefighters to the scene and fire departments from nearby towns helped fill in at city firehouses as part of the mutual aid system.
The fire on East Avenue was contained to one apartment, and it was under control in just under a half hour. But it took much longer to clear smoke from the building so that tenants could get back in the building. There were no injuries and the fire cause is under investigation.
An hour later, firefighters were called to a house fire at 16 Farbridge Street. Two adults and one child suffered non-life threatening injuries. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
