Rochester firefighters were called out to a two-alarm fire on Tuesday night in the South Wedge neighborhood.  It happened just before 8:30 at the corner of Gregory Street and South Clinton Avenues.

When firefighters got there, they found heavy black smoke pouring out of all three stories of a large, mixed use building at 699 South Clinton. That situation, coupled with the strong winds and not knowing how many people were inside caused a 2nd alarm to be called.

Fire crews did find that everyone had gotten out of the building, and no injuries were reported.

It took about an hour to get it under control.

The building contains 2 businesses and 7 apartments.

The Red Cross is helping 11 adults and 3 children.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
