Rochester City & State Officials Reach Agreement On School Funding

cityofrochester.gov

A joint statement from Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, City Council President Loretta Scott, Assemblyman Joe Morelle and State Senator Joe Robach on Tuesday indicates they have all reached agreement on amendments for a bill that will allow Phase II funding for the city schools modernization program.

This comes a day after City Hall and Morelle traded strongly worded letters, with Warren and Scott expressing concerns about the funding bill, worrying that it would not contain enough protections for taxpayers if there were problems as the contracts for construction are filled.

In the announcement about the agreement, the various officials say the amendments incorporate several of the recommended changes to the bill that Mayor had advanced.

Those changes include providing for a criminal offense should anyone submit a false report to the Joint Board that oversees the project.
