Rochester City Council voted Tuesday night  to expand the red light camera study. The results of the original study were released November of last year.

The council voted to spend up to $30,000 to take results from the initial study and try and determine why seven or eight intersections of the 32 with red light cameras are seeing an increase of violations and an increase in accidents.

The study will also help determine if the city can tie the red light cameras to the county’s traffic signal boxes which could reduce maintenance costs.
