Rochester Beaches Closed Again on Wednesday
On Tuesday, U-S Senator Charles Schumer was in Rochester to announce legislation that he says would help clean up the water in the Great Lakes and keep beaches safe for swimmers.
He spoke at a Ontario Beach, which was closed for swimming.
Today, both Ontario Beach and Durand Eastman Beach are closed again due to poor water clarity, and high bacteria levels, respectively.
The city says both parks are open for all other activities other than swimming.
Schumer has said that the waters near Monroe County have been designated one of the area's of concern by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Ontario Beach has been named one of the nation's top 20 worst beaches by the Natural Resources Defense Council.
