The Greater Rochester International Airport will be losing its director.
Mike Giardino, who has been the airport director since 2012, has accepted a job to be the Executive Director of the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in Newport News, Virginia.
Giardino is a 26 year Naval aviator veteran, and the Rochester native had spent nearly 10 years of his military career in southeast Virginia.
Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says that the Rochester Airport’s current Deputy Director, Andy Moore, will serve as Interim Director effective October 30th.
Dinolfo credited Giardino with heping spearhead the new airport renovation project and she says his choice to return to Virginia where he raised his young family is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
