There’s a saying you may have heard: “He who has health, has hope.” And it’s that message of hope that one local teen is working to spread. She’s a survivor of an eating disorder and also an advocate. At a time when social media, “perfect girl syndrome,” self-objectification and other trends are fueling eating disorders among kids and teens, Alyssa Morales is on a mission to change the message.  From sharing her story in local classrooms to Albany, she’s giving a voice to what’s referred to as “The Illness of Silence.” Alyssa Morales joins us on this edition of Need to Know to share more about her story and her work. Her mother, Michelle Morales, also joins the conversation.
