ALBANY (AP)  New York state is suspending non-emergency road work over the busy Labor Day weekend.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he directed state agencies to pull back on road construction until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The directive covers the Thruway Authority and the Metropolitan Transit Authority.

The Governor also asked the bi-state Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to review its construction schedule to minimize the impact on drivers.

Cuomo says he wants to prioritize the convenience of New Yorkers on the road this weekend.
