RIT is getting a nearly half-million dollar grant to develop technologies to accelerate the growth of the advanced manufacturing industry in the U.S.
That according to Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, who says the grant is awarded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
It will establish a consortium to identify and solve high-priority technological challenges faced by manufacturers. The project will be led by Nabil Nasr, who is the Director of RIT's Golisano Institute for Sustainability. RIT will partner with Energetics, an engineering and management company.
Slaughter and other members of Congress supporting the project say that addressing these technical challenges will help retain and create jobs, increase exports and address environmental challenges.
