Reports: Former RPD Chief Jim Sheppard To Run For County Leg.

Former Rochester Police Chief Jim Sheppard has scheduled a 2:00 p.m. news conference for what's called "important political developments," and media reports indicate Sheppard will announce he is running for a seat on the Monroe County Legislature.

Sheppard, who retired from the RPD in late 2013 just before Mayor Lovely Warren took office, reportedly will run for the 23rd District seat now held by Democrat Paul Haney. Haney is term-limited, so he can't run again this year.

All 29 seats in the legislature are up this year. Republicans currently have a 19 to 10 majority.
