The Rochester Red Wings says the team will expand the protective netting behind home plate.
This action comes as a result of a recommendation made by the Major League Baseball Commissioner, and it’s backed up by the president of Minor League Baseball.
The change means that at Frontier Field, all seating sections within 70 feet of home plate will be protected.
Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason says the expanded netting will also involve new materials being used, which will result in better visibility for fans watching the action through the screen.
The netting will be installed in time for the team's home opener on April 9.
The recommendations for baseball parks came after a growing number of fan injuries caused by balls or bats entering seating areas.
