The New York State Thruway Authority in collaboration with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and State Police on Friday are kicking off their annual Red Ribbon campaign.
To mark the 28th annual campaign, Thruway Authority toll collectors will hand out red ribbons at select toll facilities along the Thruway.
The Red Ribbon campaign is MADD's longest running and most visible public awareness project.
In addition to the red ribbon handout, the Thruway Authority will also be posting MADD's reminder to "Drive Safely, Stay Sober" on message boards throughout the highway from Friday to next Wednesday.
