RCSD Starts New Student Enrollment Process

In an effort to help improve customer service, the Rochester City School District announced the implementation of a new student enrollment process. The Student Placement Services center, formerly located at 690 Saint Paul Street, has now moved to the District's Central Office at 131 West Broad Street. Superintendent Dr. Bolgen Vargas says the former location was hard to navigate and inconvenient for parents.

"Families have been telling me for the past year and a half since I've been in the District that we need to be more parent-friendly." said Vargas. "One area in which is unanimous is they ask me to make the registration process much friendlier not just in terms of the process but also in terms of the location,"Vargas said.

Vargas says this is the first step in making the enrollment and registration process easier for parents.

"We're also going into the neighborhood and our next step, the vision here, our goal is in the very near future we want to make sure that any family can stop in any of our schools and get the information they need and start the registration process there," adds Vargas.

Starting March 18th, parents can meet with placement specialists once a week at four neighborhood satellite locations throughout the city. In addition, parents can also register their kids online at the District's website: http://www.rcsdk12.org/page/857
