The Rochester City School Board has approved the budget for the upcoming school year on Thursday night.
The more than $780 million budget includes money for full-day kindergarten at all city schools. It also calls for eliminating more than 30 positions in the district. Officials are trying to reduce some of those cuts through normal attrition.
School board members also say they back the idea of having the University of Rochester take over East High School. The NYS Education Department has called for action to improve the academic situation there.
The district has asked the state to push back a deadline for changes at East High.
