RBA to Host Business Seminars

Rochester, NY – Business owners who wonder how they'll navigate the changing tides of the economy have a new tool at their disposal.

The Rochester Business Alliance is offering a seminar series for small and mid-sized business owners.

Barb Cutrona is vice president of training at the RBA. She says small business owners often start companies because they enjoy the work that their companies actually do - but they're not focused on the business of running the business.

Cutrona says business owners need more skills than just their trade.

"They really need to understand from a legal perspective, from a financial perspective, what's best for them. Each of them has a unique situation and they have to understand how that decision will impact their business."

Cutrona says whether business owners attend an event like the seminars or not, it's important for them to invest some time in planning for the future of their business.

The first seminar is coming up on Thursday, at 8 a.m. at the Rochester Business Alliance headquarters. It's called "Breaking up is Hard to Do: An Employer's Guide to Corporate Downsizing."

Other seminars on the horizon will address raising capital and succession planning.
