Randy Cunneyworth is returning to his former role as coach of the Rochester Americans.
It will be his second stint as head coach of the team, he previously spent eight seasons in that position from 2000 to 2008, with playoff appearances for the team in six of those seasons.
Most recently, Cunneyworth served as Development Coach for the Amerks' parent club, the Buffalo Sabres.
Sabres' GM Tim Murray says that "Randy has already established himself as a valuable member of our hockey department in his previous role as development coach, and his track record for winning in the AHL and developing young players make him the ideal candidate to lead the Amerks.”
Cunneyworth replaces Chadd Cassidy who was fired in May.
