Puerto Rican Festival & Parade This Weekend

If you’re in downtown Rochester this weekend - you’ll probably hear the music and smell the food from the 2015 Puerto Rican Festival.

Organizers say  Monroe County and the City of Rochester are now home to the second largest population of Hispanics in New York State, with New York City coming in first.

The festival kicked off Friday at noon on Frontier Field - and runs through Sunday night.

You’ll find Arroz con Candules to taste, dominoes to play, and a dunk-tank for the kids.

President Orlando Ortiz told the Connections with Evan Dawson program on WXXI that the entire weekend is aimed at families.

"We're going to great music, food, entertainment, everything that you can think of, it is a family type of event, feel free to come out in a safe environment, bring your kids"

Hours for the festival are:

Saturday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Sunday: 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM

You can find the full list of Puerto Rican festival events at PRfestival.com.

There is also a Puerto Rican Parade that starts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Liberty Pole Way  in Downtown Rochester.
