The Rochester area saw an increase in the local workforce in July according to numbers just released by the New York State Labor Department. Private sector jobs in the greater Rochester area rose by about 5700 compared to July of last year.
State Labor Analyst Tammy Marino says this has continued a recent trend.
"Hiring has been fairly strong in recent months, in fact, the pace of hiring picked up quite a bit in July and as a result, private sector employment rose to its highest July level in more than a decade."
Marino says the strongest areas of local job growth continue to be private education and healthcare, and she says the leisure industry is also doing well.
She says local employment in healthcare is currently at an all time high. Marino says that the Rochester area has now made up the more than 18,000 jobs lost during the recession, and added 4,000 to those numbers.
