President Honors Rochester Doctor

Dr. Ray Dorsey
URMC
E. Ray Dorsey, M.D., M.B.A.

The White House Monday will honor a doctor from Rochester and seven other “Champions of Change in the Fight Against Parkinson’s disease."

President Obama will pay tribute to people and organizations that help Parkinson's patients with improved treatments and research toward a cure.

Dr. RayDorsey, a professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester, is one of the honorees. He runs URMC's Center for Human Experimental Therapeutics and Center for Health and Technology. The White House says Dr. Dorsey and his colleagues share their research, and provide care to patients anywhere - using online video conferencing.

Dr. Dorsey’s research has been published in leading medical, neurology, and economic journals and featured on NPR, The New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

There are as many as one-and-a-half million people with Parkinson's. The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.

Note: Watch the ceremony at 9 am on the White House website.
