Thousands of police officers with representatives from agencies across the state and country turned up to show support for the Rochester Police Department Wednesday.

Police attending RPD Officer Daryl Pierson’s funeral say they take comfort in the presence of their brothers and sisters in blue during this sad time.

Sergeant Richard Crisafulli, Oswego County Sheriff, says in more than 20 years on the force news of a fallen officer is never gets easier to take.

“It doesn't. It sounds crazy, but it doesn't: the dress uniform, and the preparation that goes into it, and being ready for the next one. You hate to say that, but unfortunately, the business that we're in, it's a possibility, of course.”

Pierson was killed a week ago when he was shot in the line of duty.
