Parent nightmare turns into a dream playground

The blue sky matched the blue playground at the ribbon cutting for Jack's Place at Rothfuss Park in Penfield.

The playground was built in memory of three-year-old Jack Heiligman who died in a lawnmower accident last October. Jack’s favorite things were dinosaurs and the color blue.

Jack's Mom Anne Heiligman said opening the park is bittersweet, but gave the family a place to focus their energy.

"We can’t take care of Jack physically any more so this foundation is us taking care of Jack. It’s been very good coping for us and we've thrown ourselves into it, it’s helped us get through the last 10 months."

The park is part of the J.A.C.K Foundation also an acronym for Just Acts of Caring and Kindness, promoting random acts of kindness throughout the community.

The dinosaur themed spot has a four-seat teeter-totter, swings, a climbing wall, four slides and a sandbox, where kids can dig for dinosaur bones.

The Foundation hopes to build several dinosaur themed programs across Rochester.
