Officials with the del Lago Resort & Casino in Seneca County have announced an opening date for that $440 million project.
It is Feb. 1, and the general manager for the resort, Jeff Babinski, says they will invite a number of officials at that ribbon cutting as well as welcoming hundreds of visitors from around the region.
He expects that resort to eventually become a destination for some convention business as well.
“We’re actually starting to take some; we’ve booked I think one, early already, for October of next year… as people look to stay and keep their business within the region and support local businesses, I expect that we’ll see a handful of businesses who are in Rochester, Syracuse and in the Finger Lakes region who definitely will want to use our facility to host their colleagues and have events.”
Babinski says they already have hired dealers and other staff and they eventually expect to hire a total of 1,500 people when the casino opens next year.
Rochester-area developer Tom Wilmot owns del Lago.
