Ontario Deputy injured in crash dies of his injuries

Ontario County Sheriff patch

An Ontario County Sheriff’s Department corrections officer who was seriously injured in a crash in Hopewell earlier this month has died of his injuries.

The deputy, 35 year old Joshua Shaver of Canandaigua, was leaving his shift at the jail and driving his personal vehicle on May 12 when his car was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of County Road 46 and Smith Road.

At the time, authorities said it appeared the other driver did not stop for the stop sign, but no tickets were issued and the investigation is continuing.

A statement on the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page says they mourn the loss of a brother officer and their prayers continue for Shaver and his family.
