Ontario County Sheriff Completes Investigation On Race Track Death

npr.org

Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero says his office has completed its investigation into the death of race car driver Kevin Ward Jr., which happened on August 9th at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

The 20 year old driver  from Lewis County in the  North Country was struck by a car driven by NASCAR's Tony Stewart, after Ward had gotten out of his car to confront Stewart after an on-track incident.

Povero says the entire investigation, including a forensic video enhancement recently received from the State Police has been submitted to the Ontario County District Attorney for review.

The sheriff says that the D-A's office, which has been meeting with members of his department, will make a statement late next week advising what action will be taken regarding the investigation.
