Rochester fire officials say that a man suffered significant burns in an apartment fire on Saturday morning.
Firefighters were responding to an automatic alarm at 500 South Avenue. When they got to the 9th floor they found smoke coming from an apartment, and once inside, found a man in his 50s on the couch.
Authorities say he had burns over 50 to 60 percent of his body and was taken to Strong Hospital. Firefighters say they extinguished a small fire in that apartment and the cause is still under investigation.
