Rochester fire officials have released more information about a fatal fire on the city’s west side on Monday night.
They got the call just after 8pm about a house on fire at 30 Hertel Street, just off Brown St.
When firefighters got there the entire front porch and right side of the house were burning. Neighbors told crews about the possibility of people trapped inside and a second alarm was called.
A search of the building found one person dead; there are no details yet about that person’s identity.
Six other occupants were taken to the hospital. Authorities say those people had non-life threatening injuries. That included three women, two juvenile females and one juvenile male The ages of those six range from 7 to 60.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
