The executive director of the New York State Association of Counties says the call for mandate relief continues, after Governor Cuomo released his proposed budget.
Steven Acquario says the plan contains provisions for pension relief for counties, but it only offered counties tools to lower costs -- not more resources to help with mandate relief.
Acquario says the top issue facing counties is being able to provide services and programs while operating under a property tax cap.
In order to do that, unfunded mandates must be addressed.
He says the call for mandate relief by counties will not end with this budget.
