New York State residents will have a little more time to enroll in the state’s health exchange, called Marketplace.
According to officials with New York State of Health, consumers have three additional days to enroll in a health plan if they want coverage to start February 1st. The deadline has been extended until midnight on January 18th. The previous deadline was January 15th.
Officials say that as they near the end of the open enrollment period, consumer demand remains high. As of last December 24th, more than 3.4 million people have enrolled in health insurance through the marketplace.
There are still questions about what will happen with the Affordable Care Act in the coming years with a new administration and Congress.
