SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Fair visitors won't have to fork over 25 cents more when buying a cup of milk after all.
Since 1983, the New York State Dairy Exhibits has charged 25 cents for a cup of cold milk. The group that runs the milk bar at the suburban Syracuse fairgrounds had said it would double the price to 50 cents this year.
New York State Dairy Exhibits Secretary Bruce Krupke said the group held off increasing the cost for several years, but dwindling cash reserves and operating costs drove the increase.
Now the Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office will use $90,000 from fair revenues to subsidize the milk bar and hold the 25-cent price.
The fair opens Aug. 25 and runs through Labor Day.
