The company that owns Rochester's largest residential real estate firm is about to get quite a bit larger. Howard Hanna Real Estate announced Wednesday that it has purchased Buffalo-based RealtyUSA.
Howard Hanna, a Pennsylvania-based company, acquired Nothnagle Realtors of Rochester in May of last year.
With the merger, Howard Hanna will be the 3rd largest real estate company in the United States.
Armand D'Alfonso, the president of Nothnagle, will become president of the combined New York State operations.
Officials say there will not be any change to the company names or local leadership. They say the transition will be seamless for agents and clients, and the range of services will be expanded.
The new organization will also add jobs in its insurance business and add positions elsewhere throughout the company.
