No takers yet for the Midtown Monorail

The Midtown Monorail, which has been in storage for the last several years after Midtown Plaza was demolished, won’t be seeing the light of day anytime soon.

The City of Rochester had put out a request for proposals to see if there was a company or institution who would take the beloved Christmas-time activity and set it up on permanent display.

But a spokesperson for the city, James Smith says that while there were two inquiries, neither results in a formal proposal.

Smith says the city will continue discussions with the interested parties and remains open to other ideas

The city is obligated to preserve the monorail under agreements that were made with the state when Midtown Plaza was demolished.
