Rochester, NY – A new guide out from Newsweek and Kaplan has tagged the Eastman School of Music as the "hottest music school" in the country, for the school's reputation for both instrumental instruction, and for the opportunities to study academic subjects that it offers students, through the University of Rochester.
The guide also notes that applications at Eastman were up by 10 percent this year, which was more than the national average.
Other New York schools that made the list of 25 "hot" schools were, Cornell University in Ithaca, which ranked as the "hottest Ivy," Fordham University in the Bronx which was listed as the "hottest Catholic school," and SUNY New Paltz, which ranked as the "hottest small state school."
The list was complied using input from admissions officials, students, parents, and education leaders, with particular attention to the input of high school counselors who track the trends they see in applications from their students.
