New York State Court of Appeals suspends Judge Astacio with pay

www.nycourts.gov

Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio has been suspended with pay effective immediately. That word came on Wednesday from the NYS Court of Appeals.

All seven judges on the court issued a letter which says the state’s highest court was notified of the recent felony charge facing Astacio.

She was arrested at her home on Tuesday, accused of trying to buy a shotgun at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Henrietta, and charged with attempted criminal purchase or disposal of a weapon.

Astacio remains on probation for a DWI conviction after being arrested in 2016, and the D&C reports that a condition of her probation forbids her from owning a gun.

Astacio has not been hearing cases since her arrest in February 2016.

The NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct is said to be reviewing the circumstances involving her case.
