New York Health Exchange Targets Young Adults

With a month and a half left in the second open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act, the New York Health Exchange is finding ways to encourage young adults to sign up.

Donna Frescatore of the New York Health Exchange says in the final stretch of enrollment, they've really been pushing their message to young people using YouTube videos.

"One really more focused at the young adult and about the milestones you reach in your life and as an adult how important it is that you get your own insurance and carry your own ID card as a primary insured."

Frescatore says there's also a video available for parents, reminding them that their kids won't be kids forever. The final deadline for 2015 coverage is approaching. Frescatore says the health exchange has also been preparing customer service reps, and sending people out into malls to connect with families. They even have a partnership with Marvel - the comic book company.

"So, at select locations and select dates throughout the period from now until February 15th, we are joined by Marvel superheros including Iron Man, including Captain America, including Thor to help us engage consumers in a friendly place."

Open enrollment for 2015 under the Affordable Care Act closes on February 15, 2015.
