New York Considers Credit for Trees
By Rachel Ward
Rochester, NY – As global leaders discuss climate change in Copenhagen this week, another debate is unfolding, around local forests. The New York State Association of Counties is surveying its members - like Monroe County - to find out if they've preserved forest lands.
The goal is to ultimately offer local preservation projects as "carbon credits" in national climate change legislation, called "Cap and Trade." WXXI's Rachel Ward has the details on the plan.
WXXI intern Kate O'Connell provided production assistance for this story.
