New Year's Eve Festivities Planned for Downtown Rochester

cityofrochester.gov

The city of Rochester is inviting families to ring in the New Year downtown.

There will be plenty of indoor and outdoor events, according to the city's manager of special events, Kara Osipovitch.

That includes skating at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, with free music from Beal's Rock & Roll Review.

Indoors there are many activities for the kids at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

"Tons of activity for the family, we have inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses for the kids, we have caricature artists, photo booths, we have a family friendly DJ, so there's a big kid's dance party happening, we do a lot of giveaways for the kids."

Osipovitch says there will be security inside the Convention Center and Rochester Police will also be assisting with security throughout the night.

The event culminates with a fireworks display at 10 pm, best viewed from the Main Street Bridge.

There's free parking at several city garages.

Everything is free for the public except for skate rentals and snakes purchased inside the Convention Center.

This annual event costs the city around $22 thousand dollars.
