New Wind Turbine Approved in Wayne County

Rochester, NY – Another wind turbine is going up on Route 104 in the Town of Ontario.

It will be located in the Wayne Industrial Sustainability Park, near an existing turbine that provides power to Harbec Incorporated. The new turbine will be much more powerful, providing 80-percent of the electricity needed by ALL of the companies in the business park.

One of those companies -- Sustainable Energy Developments -- will be installing it. C-E-O Kevin Schulte says an expanded New York State grant program makes it feasible to put in such a large windmill, "We've been largely successful in the New England states because of state level support. The hope now for us is that we can take advantage of our home market which is obviously New York, so this is the first step in that process."

Schulte says the new turbine will be about 130-feet taller than the existing turbine.
