Officials cut the ribbon today on a new 150-million dollar water treatment plant on Basket Road in Webster.

Monroe County Water Authority Executive Director, Nicholas Noce, says it'll treat up to 50-million gallons of water each day and provide a much needed second major source of Lake Ontario water for distribution.

East side residents, and those in several other counties will benefit from the new plant, according to Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks.

She says this state of the art facility will provide clean drinking water, attract industry to the region, and save rate payers money, as well.

Brooks adds this project received the largest federal stimulus grant in all of New York State, which underscores its importance.

Noce adds the project was on time and under budget.
