They took the Oath of Allegiance Monday at the Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford.

It's one of nearly 100 ceremonies that were planned by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services around the 4th of July holiday. In all, 7,000 new citizens will take the oath around the country.

U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci Jr. presided over the western New York celebration.

The 41 candidates come from 28 countries including Guatemala, Nigeria, Syria, the United Kingdom and Zambia.
