New housing project for High Falls

Rochester, NY – A new housing project will be going up on State Street in downtown Rochester, right across from the Kodak tower.

The announcement was made Thursday morning by the Urban League, Eastman Kodak and the City of Rochester.

The project will consist of 80 resident units, and 5,000 square-feet of commercial and retail space. The complex will be known as The Mills at High Falls.

Deputy Mayor Patty Malgieri says the units wil be priced to attract workers and entry-level professionals so that they, too, can take part in downtown's resurgence.

Kodak has agreed to donate a parking lot for the project.

Construction is expected to begin this fall, with completion coming in the March of 2009.

The State Housing Finance Agency will contribute $8 million for the project. Another $2.45 million will come from the city.
