Officials with the Rochester Convention Center Management Corporation have named a new leader to take over for Joe Floreano, who died after a battle with cancer last month.
James Brown will be the new executive director of the facility, which was recently renamed the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
Brown served as interim executive director during Floreano's illness as well as serving as the facility manager.
Brown started with the organization in 1994 as an events coordinator. The chairman of the convention center corporation, Sergio Esteban, said that Brown is the "logical and natural choice" to lead the facility. He says Brown has the respect of the staff and also understands the marketplace and industry trends.
Floreano had led the convention center for more than 30 years.
