The Metro Station at East Main and Plymouth has been open for six weeks, but representatives of local, state and federal agencies officially introduced the new facility today.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this morning downtown.
Ignatius Vaccaro, Postmaster of Rochester, says it's a full retail site with post office boxes and parcel lockers for larger items.
He says it replaces the old Federal Station that was in the Federal Building, and the temporary Midtown Station on Broad Street.
He says they wanted something in the heart of downtown, in an area that is being developed, and that is within walking distance for customers who formerly used those other sites.
There are three designated parking spaces behind the building, and along the street.The new Metro Station is next to North Plymouth Terrace, 24 single family attached homes.
