"Kong" is the nickname for Detachment 1, Company B of the 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment.

New York Army National Guard Capt. Kenneth Hilkert, from Seneca Falls, takes command from Captain Brendan Flansburg, who's led the unit for nearly three years. Both piloted the unit's CH-47 Chinook helicopters in Afghanistan, providing heavy lift support to Army and joint forces.

The change of command ceremony is at 10 am at the unit's headquarters on Patriot Way.

Detachment 1 of the company is based in Rochester while the other half of the company is part of the Maryland Army National Guard.
