New Cancer Center Planned for Batavia

ummc.org

Groundbreaking is expected this spring on a new 6.5-million dollar cancer care and treatment center at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

UMMC Spokesperson Colleen Flynn says residents in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties bill benefit from having the new facility in their own community.

She says many times patients must travel long distances to other cities to get the care they need.

Flynn adds the cancer center will offer radiation oncology, chemotherapy and support services, but also perhaps expanding into surgical oncology.

With approval from the Genesee County and City of Batavia Planning Boards, construction is expected to start this spring on the 6.5 million dollar facility, with a completion date of January 2016.
