The head of NASA will be the keynote speaker for RIT's commencement this year. Major General Charles Bolden will deliver the address at the Academic Convocation May 22, 10:00 a.m. at the Gordon Field House.

Bolden was a naval aviator in Southeast Asia in the 1970s, and he was also a test pilot.

In 2009, he became the 12th administrator of the space agency. Bolden also was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1980, and later oversaw efforts to return the shuttle to flight safely after the 1986 Challenger accident.
