MVP Health Care announced cuts to its Medicare Advantage products Tuesday morning.
The community health insurer will discontinue 2 of its 5 Medicare Advantage plans used by 17,000 customers in the Greater Rochester Area. Statewide 19,000 customers will be affected.
The remaining 3 plans will have rate increases between 50 and 100 percent of current premiums.
The company sited federal cuts in subsidies which have traditionally covered 85 percent of the cost of Medicare Advantage expenses.
MVP also announced they project to run a deficit in 2015.
