Sodus double homicide probe enters new phase

Spectrum News

Wayne County Deputies say that activities related to the search for the suspect in Monday’s double homicide in the Village of Sodus are being scaled down.

At this time, they do not have anyone in custody. The investigation will continue for as long as necessary and deputies will continue talking to people in the neighborhood for information related to the shooting deaths of 28 year old Joshua Niles and 24 year old Amber Washburn. Both lived at 29 Carlton Street.

Authorities have said they believe the pair was targeted and they say the general public is not at risk.

The Sheriff’s department says the investigation is transitioning into a different phase where investigators continue following leads and have submitted evidence collected at the scene for forensic analysis.

The school in Sodus will resume normal operating hours on Wednesday. People in the area are still asked to be alert to anything that appears unusual.
