TWC News

Monroe County Deputies have now released the name of the man who died after his car was struck by an Amtrak train in Chili this morning.

He is 20 year old Brandon Sauer of North Chili. Witnesses tell deputies that just before 6 a.m. they were stopped on King Road at the railroad crossing gate. The gate was down and the caution lights were flashing and the bells were sounding.

The witnesses told authorities that a car came up behind their vehicle, passed them on the left and crossed the railroad tracks. As the vehicle crossed the tracks, it was struck by a northbound Amtrak train.

Sauer was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was an employee of the Town of Chili.

The train ran about two hours late due to the accident.
