More Details About Skeletal Remains Found In South Carolina

ncmissingpersons.org

There's a little more information being released about some skeletal remains found in an area of South Carolina not far from where a Chili teenager was last seen.

A spokesperson with the Horry County Sheriff's Department tells us that a coroner has confirmed that the bones found in that area over the weekend are human. They are being sent off to a lab in Texas for DNA testing.

They were found Saturday by someone walking in the area, and officials have said they were scattered around the area, possibly having been moved around by an animal.

The discovery is of great interest to the family of Brittanee Drexel. The bones were found about 25 miles away from where the 17 year old Chili girl was last seen in 2009.  She disappeared while on spring break in Myrtle Beach.

At this point there is no indication about whether the remains may be male, female, child or adult.  Media reports in South Carolina also say that several people have gone missing from that same general area since 2007.
